Cedric van der Gun has returned to FC Utrecht. The club and player have reached agreement on a six-month contract, with an option for another season. Van der Gun played 52 matches for FC Utrecht between 2006 and 2009, scoring 17 times. After three seasons in Utrecht, he spent two under contract with Swansea City. Van der Gun won promotion with Swansea from the Championship to the Premier League in his first season.
Baas and Jurriëns join the team

Financial Manager Michel Baas and Marketing, Communication & PR Manager Roland Jurriëns joined FC Utrecht's management team on 1 February. The other members of the team are Managing Director Wilco van Schaik and Technical Director Foeke Booy. Baas and Jurriëns signed their contracts this week.
First shirt for the Mihai Nesu Foundation

The first player's shirt for the Mihai Nesu Foundation's Football Academy was presented to Dries Mertens, one of the Foundation's ambassadors. The Balgevoel Football Academy, part of the Mihai Nesu Foundation, will be officially opened at 11 a.m. on Sunday 5 February. Willem van Hanegem will perform the opening ceremony at De Vryheit sport park in Utrecht.
Walcott back to England

Jacob Walcott was on trial with FC Utrecht this week. The 20-year-old winger from Reading FC did not meet expectations, however, and has returned to his club in England. "We unanimously came to the conclusion that Walcott is a player with potential," said Technical Director Foeke Booy. "But given the players we already have, he can't offer us the added value we're looking for. In such cases, our own youth players come first."
