In the eighth minute Wisgerhof was allowed to head in an in turning free kick at the far post.
Five minutes later John freed himself in an individual action and subsequently shot the ball past Van Dijk from a tight angle: 0-2. That is how FC Twente slapped FC Utrecht within five minutes. But then again FC Twente could have struck once more. Van Dijk prevented De Jong from scoring, also neutralized a shot by Chadli and watched a swipe by Wisgerhof go wide just by inches. On the stroke of half time Duplan was floored within the box in a contest with Douglas. Wiedemeijer did not allow a penalty, but penalized Duplan with a yellow card.

Substitute Janssen could freely head in after a corner. Then there was also a chance for a header by Demouge, before again Janssen enlarged the lead of the Tukkers in the 58th minute.
