Parking
A new parking policy for the surroundings of Stadium Galgenwaard has been developed. Supporters can`t park in the districts in the neighbourhood. They are asked to use public transportation as much as possible. Those who, nevertheless, use their car, are obliged to use the parking route that is indicated. From several parking places in the stadium`s environment, free commuter coaches go to and from Galgenwaard. On weekdays, these free coaches go to and from Galgenwaard from the `Veemarkt` site. On Sundays, these coaches depart from several parking places in the district of Rijnsweerd.
FC Utrecht started this mobility plan together with the reconstruction of stadium Galgenwaard. The football club took its responsibility in decreasing parking nuisance in the surrounding area. As a club, we have been successful in this. In the coming years, too, we will continue this policy.
This year, too, the Utrecht city council has given permission to close off the neighbourhood with fences, stewards and police. Only those who can prove that they live in the area, can pass the closing off. To this end, FC Utrecht gives them an emblem. Visitors of the stadium are referred to parking places in the surrounding area.
FC Utrecht appeals to all visitors of stadium Galgenwaard to use public transportation. Starting from one and a half hour before the match until one and a half hour after the match, a ticket of admission for the match gives, inside the local borders, the right to use the GVU coaches free of charge. In the city of Utrecht, line 12 passes the stadium.
Only cars that are provided with a valid parking license, can be parked in the surroundings of stadium Galgenwaard. This competition, the car park south of the stadium can be used for the first time.
Together with the completion of the first car park, under Sports Centre Galgenwaard, the number of parking places in the surroundings of Galgenwaard on weekdays has been increased. Unless there is a home match of FC Utrecht, the `Shop Express` continues to drive on Thursday evening, Saturday and on shopping Sundays. In the course of the coming years, the underground parking places in the surroundings of Galgenwaard will increase to 1250.
